“Being part of something so full of purpose and love for the next generation moved me. There was a weight to it, not heavy in burden, but in meaning. It made me step outside of myself and realize this isn’t just about me. It’s about being a vessel, about showing up so others can believe they’re worthy of showing up too.”

Melody Rain, on her first Significant U Empowerment Conference. (SUEC)

For over a decade, Melody has been a quiet force behind The Madrina Project, from holding the stage spotlight for our incredible session speakers, to leading team prayer huddles, to giving the best hugs and whispering words of courage to teens who’ve forgotten their worth. She’s also been a constant presence for me, helping me not feel alone.

Something you may not know about Madrina is that we are a 100% donated-time team. That means we all work our butts off to serve as San Antonio’s Fairy Godmothers, without pay, offering our time, talents, and generosity to keep the mission going. Melody has never just volunteered; she’s given her whole heart.

Through this journey, she has become one of my dearest friends, a teammate and ministry partner, and truly a Madrina with the voice of an angel. I’ve been praying for this day for a long time, and today, I get to introduce her not just as a leader, but as a songwriter.

Melody Rain is releasing her debut EP this week. And if you’ve ever wondered what vulnerability sounds like when it’s stitched together with hope, healing, and the Holy Spirit, this is your up-close opportunity.

Leading by Learning

When I asked Melody how being part of The Madrina Project has shaped her, she didn’t hesitate:

“Being a Madrina has been like holding up a mirror, not just to myself as an artist, but to myself as a whole person. Pouring into younger girls has kept me grounded in purpose and deeply aware of the impact of showing up authentically.”

Girls don’t believe the facades we often show each other; they see straight through to who we really are, not who we wish we could be. Being part of a young team like Madrina stretches us and shapes us into the women we’re still becoming.

And year after year, she has shown up with that same heart, pouring her love, passion, and talent into the conference and into every girl she meets.

From Girls to Gospel

Melody’s EP was born out of a season of wrestling. And if you’ve ever mentored a girl, been a girl, or known a girl, you know that journey, it’s messy, it’s layered, and it’s holy.

“Each song is like a chapter of my story,” she told me. “One about surrender, one about the goodness I couldn’t always see, and one about the freedom I didn’t know I had. I guess you could say the EP is a collection of reminders that He was there the whole time.”

I’ve watched Melody walk into countless rooms with nothing but faith and a quiet, brave yes in her spirit. This music feels like her, soft and soulful, yet bold, brave, and unafraid.

Songs That See You

Melody’s heart didn’t always trust “girl world,” but over time, she allowed herself to build true sisterhood within our team. And now, she’s pouring that same love back into the world and into our girls.

“I hope they feel seen,” she said when I asked what she hopes young girls take away from her songs. “I hope they hear a story that sounds a little like theirs... that they’re not too far gone, too broken, or too small to be used by God.”

That’s the Madrina heart. And it’s the heartbeat of this project to raise up people who not only believe in their worth, but learn to speak it over others. Her music is a continuation of that mission, and this release is a moment for her gifts to light up the room. I hope you’ll join us.

Join Us Friday Night

If you’re in San Antonio, I want to personally invite you to Melody’s EP Night, a live listening experience that’s as worshipful as it is celebratory. Come hear her share these songs the way they were meant to be heard: in community, surrounded by love, with the people who’ve watched this journey unfold from the very beginning.

Can’t make it? No worries, the EP drops Friday night on all streaming platforms. Stream it. Sit with it. Share it with someone who needs to know they’re not alone.

You’ll be supporting an artist who has mentored and ministered behind the scenes for years and who’s now courageously letting her own story sing.

Always Faithful

I asked Melody one last question: If you could dedicate one track to your younger self, which one would it be?

She paused and said, “Oh, that’s a hard one, but I think ‘Always Faithful.’”

“That song holds space for both the ache and the assurance. My younger self needed to hear that the dry seasons weren’t wasted, that even when she couldn’t trace the purpose, God was still holding the pen.”

Melody is a reminder that leadership isn’t always loud. It’s faithful. It’s steady. It’s showing up with a story that’s still being written and trusting that it’s already worthy of being heard.

Mel, thank you for leading while learning. For serving when no one sees. For singing the kind of songs that bring light at the end of a tunnel.

We love you. And we’re cheering the loudest.

P.S. Madrina will be providing a drink bar in the lobby to raise funds for our Fairy Godmother Boutique! So please stop by and support.

"When Kelley met Significant U Founder, ..., she said her life was forever changed. It was only after seeing herself in her dress that she understood what Carmen Lidia was trying to do: Make young women feel beautiful inside and out...

“I looked so good!” she said smiling, holding back tears of joy.
