What an incredible God moment it was to be contacted by KLOVE Radio at such a critical time for The Madrina Project!
Back in 2013, I was desperately pleading with the Lord for dresses for our first annual Significant U Empowerment Conference, and in His abundant generosity, He answered my prayer.
Raul with KLOVE reached out unexpectedly and offered to host a dress drive for us, resulting in over 500 dresses.
That miracle still leaves me in awe.
Fast forward to 2025, and once again, I found myself asking God for help—this time, to share our rebrand and rekindle people's passion for our mission and programs. True to His faithfulness, He opened another door.
The interview began with Tala Shatara, whose voice exudes kindness and inspiration—a true gift to anyone who tunes in to KLOVE. From the moment we connected, the conversation was magical. Tala took the time to understand how my calling to serve as San Antonio’s “fairy godmother” began and how The Madrina Project has grown into what it is today.
She asked thoughtful questions about the lies young girls are told and believe, and how our programs work to dismantle each one with truth, love, and support. Tala gave me space to share the heart of our mission and even extended an invitation to listeners to get involved.
Her encouragement left a lasting impression. She described me as a “humanitarian,” saying she could sense my love for people and the girls we serve. It was such a touching moment! Tala is now my new Instagram bestie, and I hope to connect with her in person someday—maybe even interview her when I visit Nashville!
This moment felt monumental, so I invited Catherine, a former student-turned-team member, and Joshua, my amazing husband, to join in capturing the memories. Hearing their encouragement afterward was the cherry on top. Catherine, now 23, said, “That woman raised me,” and added how surreal it was to witness me speaking with the one and only Tala Shatara. This interview was more than a milestone—it was a sweet birthday surprise from the Lord. Every year, I use my birthday to amplify our mission, and this year’s Celebrate 35 with $35 campaign is no exception. This KLOVE interview was exactly the boost we needed to share our rebrand and call others to support our cause. I am deeply thankful to serve a God who hears our prayers—both big and small—and answers in ways that exceed our expectations.
